2012 Pilot

Revamped interior features, an improved engine and new exterior styling for 2012.

For 2012, Honda introduces a brand new Pilot, an eight-passenger SUV with tons of upgrades, updated interior amenities, and an increase in fuel economy. It’s all you’ve come to know about the Honda Pilot, plus a lot more.

Exterior styling has always been a calling card for the Pilot. This year, the 2012 pilot SUV (MSRP $28,470*) gets a brand new front fascia, with a three-bar chrome grille, for a tougher appearance. Redesigned multi-reflector halogen headlamps and turn indicators, a new front airdam, and an optimized air deflector ahead of the front wheels all help to reduce overall frontal area and air turbulence, both of which conspire to reduce fuel economy. Starting with the Pilot EX, 18-inch alloy wheels are standard equipment, up an inch from the 2011 model. Seventeen inch styled steel wheels are the standard equipment on the Pilot LX.

On the inside, the modus operandi was to completely refine the interior, while retaining and improving the outgoing model’s intuitive controls. Engineers placed a lot of attention on reducing overall noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), sealing body seams around the unibody connection points, and retuning the rear suspension subframe mounts, which results in reduced noise in the already quiet interior. Enhanced pillar separators, upgraded insulation and acoustic windshield glass – normally reserved for ultra-high-end luxury cars, further reduces any disturbance from outside.

For the 2012 model year, Pilot EX and EX-L receive a 2 GB CD-Library (CD-L), and Bluetooth® audio streaming, as well as Bluetooth HandsFreeLink®. The EX has a center stack featuring a three-line display. The Pilot EX-L – without the optional navigation system – features a new i-MID, a color LCD display that allows the integration of vehicle information and compatible personal electronics. The EX-L’s rearview camera display is also part of the i-MID display, and provides drivers with a set of guidelines to help judge parking distance.

The 250 hp i-VTEC V6 engine is also revised for 2012. Engineers worked to reduce friction levels and improve overall efficiency. The engine’s Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system operates in six-cylinder mode when power is required, and then deactivates two or even three cylinders for greater efficiency when cruising on the highway. Fuel economy improvements to 17/24** city/highway (based on EPA estimates) in four-wheel drive models, and 18/25 city/highway on two wheel drive models make the Pilot 2WD the highest fuel economy of any eight-passenger SUV, and the Pilot 4WD the highest fuel economy of any mid-size 4WD SUV.

The Pilot features a five-speed automatic transmission’s Grade Logic Control ensures that the Pilot is in the most appropriate gear when ascending or descending hills, avoiding the gear hunting that many SUVs in this class experience. The VTM-4 system on Pilot 4WD models provides fully automatic 4WD capability, engaging four-wheel drive whenever necessary, completely transparent to the driver. “Lock Mode” – available in first or second gear up to 18 mph and engaged by an instrument panel-mounted button – delivers the maximum possible torque transfer to the rear wheels, providing an extra boost in extremely low traction or stuck conditions. The Pilot has been a perennial award winner since its introduction. IntelliChoice awarded it the “Best Value of the Year” award, and Edmunds.com called it the “Most Wanted SUV.” Kelley Blue Book said it was one of the “Top 50 Most Popular Cars” and it also won one of Edmunds.com’s “Best Retained Value” awards for non-luxury brands.

It’s time you experienced what the Honda Pilot has to offer. Schedule a test drive today to learn more about the Pilot, and how it can earn a place in your driveway.

2011 RDX

At Acura, nobody takes the term “sport” lightly. Whether it’s used to describe a sedan, wagon or crossover utility vehicle, “sport” means fun-to-drive performance. The 2011 Acura RDX underscores “sport” with a turbocharged engine and available Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).

Here’s a little trivia: the word “sport” in “sport-utility vehicle” (SUV) stems not from performance, but from the fact that the first models in the 1940s and 1950s were designed for outdoor sportsmen – as in fishing and hunting. When SUVs became popular in the 1980s, many drivers likely assumed sport meant “fun to drive,” or a sporty image conveyed by driving a macho-tinged truck rather than a “soccer mom” minivan. Many drivers of such vehicles were sorely disappointed by ill-handling, sluggish-performing trucks playing the role of family wagons. Sure, they could carry the kids and sheets of plywood when needed. But fun? Forget it. At Acura, the word “sport” has never meant anything but performance and fun-to-drive.

Standard HID headlamps, 18-inch 10-spoke aluminum wheels, rectangular exhaust tips and satin body trim complement the crisp look of the RDX. Like all Acura models, the RDX offers outstanding value. Its base MSRP of $32,620 includes a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a six-cylinder-like 240 hp and 260 lb/ft of torque. It’s lighter than a six, though, and that helps gives the RDX remarkably sharp handling. According to Car & Driver magazine, the RDX will zip from zero-to-60 in just 6.4 seconds. That’s just one part of the performance picture though.

Acura technology ensures that this turbocharged engine delivers right-now responsiveness in every day driving. The combination of a special Variable Flow Turbocharger (VFT) with i-VTEC® valve control gives the RDX an unusually broad power band. With the Sequential SportShift feature, you can let the five-speed automatic transmission shift for you, or, when the mood strikes, shift for yourself using steering-wheel-mounted paddleshifters.

Standard Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control gives the front-wheel drive RDX excellent road manners. You can also add the aptly named Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system. For all-weather traction, SH-AWD varies power distribution between the front and rear wheels, as you would expect. Like some high-end sportscars, however, the RDX with SH-AWD also can vary power side-to-side at the rear wheels when you’re zipping through corners. That’s a process called “torque vectoring.” It’s an Acura technology that puts the word “sport” in boldface.

The RDX offers impressive utility as well. There’s plenty of room for five including a generous 37.6 inches of rear legroom. The rear cargo area offers 27.8 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up, and it more than doubles to 60.6 cubic feet with the 60/40 split rear seatbacks folded down. Among the multiple storage compartments inside the RDX interior is a lockable dual-level center console that’s roomy enough to hold a laptop computer.

The Acura RDX places a high priority on luxury, and so leather trimmed seats, soothing ambient lighting and a premium sound system are all standard. “Premium” is no exaggeration; this sound system includes a six-disc CD player with MP3/WMA capability, XM Satellite Radio and a 360-watt amp playing through seven speakers. It has connections for your iPod®, MP3 player or USB jump drive, too.

Luxury brands offer optional high-end branded audio systems; only Acura offers one tuned by six-time Grammy® award winning sound engineer Elliot Scheiner. He’s the “ELS” in the Acura/ELS Surround® 410-watt Premium Audio System with Dolby® Pro Logic® II. The system comes as part of the RDX Technology Package. You don’t pay extra for a rearview camera system on the 2011 Acura RDX. Its display is integrated into the rearview mirror, or, with the Technology Package, the eight-inch color screen used for the navigation system.

If you, like Acura, believe that “sport” ought to mean fun, even when there’s plenty of utility, then test-drive a 2011 RDX. See how you’re right in tune with this very sporty crossover.

2011 Audi S Models

While Audi vehicles typically score at the top of the charts in every class they compete in, there are always going to be buyers who want a little something extra. That's what the Audi S Models are for. The Audi S Models offer those more discerning buyers a chance to ratchet up the legendary Audi driving experience to a whole new level by adding extra doses of performance and style to the already sporty mix of characteristics that the rest of the Audi lineup offers. The “S” signifies the sporty intentions of these special editions, but it could just as easily stand for “sinister.”

Whether you are considering an A4 Sedan, A5 Coupe or Cabriolet, A6 Sedan or the TT Coupe or Roadster, there are S versions available to tempt you toward the dark side. For 2011, the Audi S lineup comprises the S4 Sedan, S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, S6 Sedan and TTS in closed-top coupe form, as well as open-top roadster. All of them offer improved performance and subtly aggressive visual enhancements to go along with their longer lists of standard features.

Even though it is one of the most affordable S Models in Audi's lineup, the 2011 Audi S4 (MSRP $47,100) with its upgraded, direct injected 333-hp TFSI® supercharged V6, exemplifies the S Model ethos. While the engine itself was voted one of Ward’s “10 Best Engines” in its first year of production, the total package was impressive enough to claim victory in a Car and Driver comparison with the rival BMW 335i. Perhaps it was the superb handling that won the editors over. After all, the S4 features Audi's legendary quattro® all-wheel drive system combined with an available Sport Rear Differential and special S-tuned five-link aluminum suspension. Using a six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed S tronic® dual-clutch transmission, which combines the option of manual-style shifting with the uninterrupted power delivery of an automatic, the 2011 Audi S4 is capable of zero-to-60 mph in a mere 4.9 seconds.

The 2011 Audi S5 Coupe (MSRP $53,650) offers similar levels of world-class performance. Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter FSI® (Fuel Stratified Injection) V8 that produces a healthy 354 hp and 325 lb/ft of torque, the S5 Coupe can run from zero-to-60 in just 4.9 seconds, yet can still manage up to 24 mpg highway with the optional six-speed Tiptronic® transmission.

The S5 Cabriolet (MSRP $59,050) uses the same supercharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6 engine that's found under the hood of the S4. Coupled to the standard seven-speed S tronic transmission, the elegant S5 Cabriolet sprints from zero-to-60 in a scant 5.2 seconds.

Both the S5 Coupe and Cabriolet feature an S-tuned version of Audi's patented five-link front suspension, enhanced braking and subtle aerodynamic tweaks to the exterior. Available Audi Drive Select raises the ride and handling options to almost limitless levels of grip or comfort. The S5 somehow manages to improve upon the already handsome and capable A5 in almost every way possible.

The 2011 Audi TTS Coupe (MSRP $47,000) and TTS Roadster (MSRP $50,000) are each powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder that generates an immensely impressive 265 hp and 258 lb/ft of torque. The 2.0-liter, too, was voted one of Ward's “Best Engines.” Coupled to Audi's S tronic dual-clutch transmission, the four-cylinder can propel the TTS from zero-to-60 in just 5.1 seconds. That number falls to 4.9 seconds with the optional Launch Control engaged.

Like all Audi S Models, the TTS Coupe and TTS Roadster feature the quattro all-wheel drive system, bespoke S badging and suspension upgrades to improve the already stellar handling characteristics. The TTS goes one step further, however, and comes standard with Audi's magnetic ride adaptive shock absorber system. It can lower the TTS by up to 10 millimeters when it detects the need for even tighter handling.

At the top of the 2011 Audi S Model lineup sits the S6 Sedan (MSRP $76,100). Powered by a 435-hp variant of the 5.2-liter FSI V10 that is found in the top-level Audi R8 supercar, the S6 uses Audi's Tiptronic transmission to launch the sedan from zero-to-60 in just 5.1 seconds. The quattro all-wheel drive system is again standard here, as is a high-performance brake system that features six-piston calipers and 15.2-inch rotors. The S-tuned suspension keeps the car planted, even at the incredibly high speeds the S6 can achieve. In fact, the overall tuning of the S6 brings the car's performance capabilities within reach of dedicated sports cars that cost many times the price of the S6.

Audi’s S Models are for the most discriminating drivers who won’t settle for less than the best. For more information regarding the S Models, please contact us today.

Prius Family Named "2012 Best Green Car To Buy"

The Prius is quickly growing from a single vehicle to a lineup of efficient models, and the people at GreenCarReports want to make sure everyone knows it. They recently named the Prius lineup as the "2012 Best Green Car to Buy." As the name indicates, usually the designation is reserved for a single model, but the people at GreenCarReports simply couldn't help themselves this time.

"The Prius is more than just one car this year," said Green Car Reports Editor John Voelcker. "With a new Prius v and the Prius Plug-In Hybrid, it's now a family of vehicles with some of the highest gas mileage on the market today, and the Prius name is likely to help encourage buyers to take the plunge into plug-in vehicles."

While the Prius hybrid's expansion from a single model into a fleet of green cars was a big factor in the decision made by GreenCarReports, we should also note that the impressive fuel economy of the various models in its lineup helped too.

Toyota Prius Family of Cars Fuel Economy At a Glance:

  • Third-Generation Toyota Pruis Hybrid: 50 mpg combined (51 city/48 highway);
  • Toyota Prius v: 42 mpg combined (44 mpg city/40 mpg highway);
  • Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid: Expected to deliver 87 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) combined when in electric mode and 49 mpg combined in hybrid mode;
  • Toyota Prius C: Expected to deliver more than 50 mpg city;

It goes without saying that Toyota has a Prius in mind for just about every driver, and we wouldn't be surprised in the least bit to see more variants of the award-winning hybrid emerge in the future too.

2012 CR-V, Here Now

Honda customers are some of the most educated customers in the world, and of that we are very proud. That having been said, do any of you know what CR-V stands for? Don't worry, I didn't either. It stands for Comfortable Runabout Vehicle, a name no doubt derived from the heritage of the vehicle: a crossover between the comfort of a station wagon and the cargo space of the various SUV's. Since it's launch in 1997, the CR-V has become the 8th best-selling vehicle ever. It is also the best retained value SUV under $25,000, and it received the most JD Power and Associates Initial Quality Awards in 2011.

That having been said, let's take a look at what is new for the 4th generation launch in 2012:

(download)

Obviously, the body styling has been completely redone. The front end is more aerodynamic, has a new grille, and 17-inch wheels are now standard. The back end is also more aerodynamic, with the roofline no longer curving downward but instead staying flat over the rear cargo area. This contributes to added cargo space as well as higher fuel economy. Overall, this new body design is 18% more aerodynamic, and the  2012 CR-V has the best EPA-estimated highway fuel economy for a 4-wheel-drive vehicle in the compact SUV class. The front-wheel drive models get 23 city, 31 highway, and 26 combined. The AWD models get 22/30/25.

The most shocking thing about the exterior design, compared to the 2011 model, is probably the extended roofline over the cargo area. So, let's talk about why they may have done that. Obviously, this design contributes to the aerodynamics. However, I think there are also a few more reasons. Rear visibility is greatly increased, as it is now much easier to see out of the back window, even if there is a lot of cargo back there. The rear door now opens higher than it used to, so there is no fear of banging your head. But don't worry, it is still within easy reach. Even a short person such as myself, measuring 5'3 on a good day, can still close it without having to jump or stand on a stool.

Take a look at how much wider the rear door opens up, compared to the other vehicles in its segment. Also illustrated in that first image is how much more cubic feet of cargo space the CR-V has compared to those same vehicles. It beats the best competition by more than 4-square feet. The second image shows how far the rear doors open, for easier back seat access. The CR-V's doors open up at an impressive 81 degrees, beating the nearest competitor by 7 degrees.

How about the inside? Believe it or not, the interior has had even more of a makeover than the exterior. I don't know about you, but I'm always in some slight discomfort when I have to put my purse out of reach in the back seat, or on the dirty floor at my passengers' feet, or precariously balanced on the center console. None of those are great options for a purse, or any other bag. Take a look at this comparison between the center console space of the CR-V and its main competitors:

Center_console

While we're on the subject of cargo space, let's not forget the option of folding down the rear seats to make more room. How does one usually accomplish such a feat? Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to have to find a way to manhandle the seats into and out of their somewhat flattened storage position. It's usually a horribly complicated process for such a simple task. Thankfully, we've now got a model that conquers those problems. Take a look at this:

(download)
From the rear cargo space, all a person has to do is pull a lever just like the door handle, and the rest is done automatically. It's a truly beautiful thing. The same maneuver can be accomplished from the rear seats, with almost exactly the same mechanism.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: let's talk technology!

2012 CR-V EX-L AWD comes standard with:

  • Multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines
  • Pandora internet radio interface
  • SMS text message function
  • Navigation system with moving map (mutually exclusive with RES)
  • Rear Entertainment System (mutually exclusive with Nav)
  • Touch-screen navigation system
  • Traffic information on screen, no monthly fee
  • Bluetooth HandsFreeLink
  • Outside temperature gauge
  • USB audio interface
  • Steering wheel-mounted audio controls
  • Ecological drive display system
  • ECON mode
  • 60/40 easy-fold rear seats

The above a just the tip of the iceberg, but I don't want to bore you with a long list. Suffice it to say that the 2011 CR-V was awesome, but the 2012 somehow manages to upgrade nearly everything and be even cooler.

And, because I know you were wondering, yes there is a full line of accessories. Everything from splash guards, to various roof attachments and fog lights for the exterior, to cargo nets, remote engine starters and all-season floor mats for the interior. Available in the showroom or at bernardiparts.com

I think I've talked it up enough. Come on in and see for yourself! Get even more information or schedule an appointment by calling 774-290-1401

Roadside Assistance Tips

We all know that the road can be a dangerous place. we try to take the necessary precautions to create a safe environment for our daily commute, but sometimes things are unavoidable. If you have been the victim of a flat tire or mechanical mishap, then you've definitely experienced that lonely feeling...stuck by the side of the road, all of your contacts either too busy or too far away to be of any assistance.

While we may not be able to prevent the problem from happening in the first place, we may be able to offer you some valuable tips for dealing with it.

First of all, there are some things you should always keep in your vehicle. Always have the number of your roadside assistance service, proof of insurance and ownership of the vehicle you're driving, emergency contacts names and numbers, and your drivers license. In addition to those, you should also have some food, water, a first aid kit, blanket, flashlight and jumper cables.

In the event of an emergency, the first thing you should do is make sure you are off to the side of the road or in an equally safe place, and turn on your hazard lights. If sitting inside your vehicle seems dangerous and if it is safe to exit the vehicle, you should probably do so. Then call your roadside assistance provider. Tell them exactly where you are located. If possible, try to ascertain exactly what went wrong, and relay that information to them, as that will speed up the process.

It is very important to have at least a general idea of where you are. Your roadside assistance provider will likely not send a truck or repairman out to you themselves but rather relay the information you provide to the nearest tow company. Being able to provide them with exact details will help them reach you a lot faster.

2012 RDX, Update

Rdx

Long renowned as a technology leader, Acura takes equal pride in packing a heavy dose of driving-enthusiast punch into every vehicle it builds. From luxury sedans to sport utilities, Acura aims to quicken the driver’s pulse every time the engine fires to life. Drivers looking for a luxury crossover that appeals to their hearts, as well as their heads need look no further than the new 2012 Acura RDX – the five-seat premium SUV that seasons class-pacing comfort, utility and fuel economy with a taste of hot-shoe sensibility.

Acura understands that from the beginning, SUVs were meant to appeal to the buyer’s sense of adventure. That’s why – along with superior luxury, safety and versatility – the new 2012 RDX continues to boast efficient turbocharged power, tenacious handling and cutting-edge infotainment technology.

The RDX (MSRP $32,895*) offers standard front-wheel drive; the RDX SH-AWD features the added assurance of Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Unlike the pedestrian four-wheel drive systems found on most SUVs, SH-AWD not only distributes torque between the axles, it also shuttles power from wheel-to-wheel across the rear axle – a feature that greatly enhances stability through tight corners in even the worst driving conditions.

Automotive stylists use the term “design language” when discussing the collection of styling cues common throughout a carmaker’s lineup. The RDX – with its dominant grille, bold creases and prominent fender flares – projects the same fun-to-drive aesthetic that informs the shape of every vehicle Acura builds. High-Intensity Discharge headlights, satin body trim, rectangular exhaust finishers and 18-inch, 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels strengthen the tug on enthusiasts’ heartstrings.

The heart of the RDX lies under the hood where a turbocharged, intercooled 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder produces 240 hp and 260 lb/ft of torque. The combination of a Variable Flow Turbocharger, dual overhead cams and intelligent i-VTEC® variable valve timing delivers a broad power band without a hint of turbo lag.

Regardless of model, the standard transmission is a Sequential SportShift five-speed automatic, which offers manual gear changes via paddleshifters mounted on the steering wheel. For all its performance credentials, this powertrain combination returns a thrifty 24 mpg on the highway** when power flows to the front wheels.

The standard Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) system uses a variety of sensors to detect a potential loss of traction, then instantly reduces engine torque and applies the ABS brakes (with Electronic Brake Distribution and Brake Assist) to compensate. Should a collision occur, six airbags, active front head restraints and the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which is designed to reduce the crash forces transferred to the passenger compartment, are onboard to protect you and your family.

Pugnacious power and crisp handling set the RDX apart from the pack, but Acura knows that premium-crossover buyers expect top-notch versatility from their rides. The RDX delivers a generous 60.6 cubic feet of cargo space available when you lower the 60/40-split/folding rear seat.

Once inside the RDX, you’ll also appreciate the premium levels of luxury and technology on hand. Perforated leather seating surfaces, dual-level heating for the front seats, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and automatic climate control are all standard, as are USB/iPod integration, a rearview camera and a 360-watt, seven-speaker audio system.

Choosing the available Technology Package nets such highline items as the Acura Navigation System with AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic™ and Real-Time Weather™, voice recognition and an eight-inch screen mounted high on the center console for easy viewing. The package also includes a 410-watt Acura/ELS Surround Premium 10-speaker Dolby® Pro Logic® II Sound System and GPS-linked climate control.

There’s only one way to experience all the luxury, technology, utility and driving excitement on tap in the new 2012 Acura RDX crossover – by taking a test drive. Contact us to schedule yours today.

2012 A5

A5

Personal luxury takes many shapes, but few are as beautiful as the 2012 Audi A5. Offered as both a coupe and a four-seat convertible, the A5 lineup combines engineering excellence, elegant styling and cutting-edge technology to deliver a peerless luxury experience. And if you’re inclined toward more pulse-quickening performance, the S5 variants add even more power and sportier driving dynamics.

The 2012 Audi A5 coupe (MSRP $37,100), with its curvy flanks and sleek roofline, carries amazing street presence, and its eye-catching lines are backed up with a highly capable and equally efficient powertrain.

Under the hood lies the Audi 2.0 TFSI® four-cylinder. This turbocharged, direct-injected engine is a Ward’s 10 Best Engines award winner, and it churns out a healthy 211 hp and 258 lb/ft of torque. Matched with either an eight-speed Tiptronic® automatic transmission or a six-speed manual, drivers can expect fuel economy of 21 mpg city, up to 31 mpg highway and up to 25 mpg combined. A zero-to-60 mph sprint takes 6.2 seconds (Tiptronic®) to 6.4 seconds (manual) and the slinky coupe maxes out at 130 mph. Audi signature quattro® all-wheel drive is standard, provide peerless on-road traction and performance on dry tarmac and in inclement weather conditions.

Inside, the A5 presents the driver with an impeccably laid-out cockpit and instrument panel, which is as elegant and upscale as it is intuitive to use. The Audi reputation for delivering exquisitely detailed interiors is well earned, as you can see the moment you slide into the driver’s seat.

For drivers who prefer a traditional convertible experience, the 2012 Audi A5 cabriolet (MSRP $42,600) is a best-of-both-worlds solution. With its standard power fabric top up, it cuts an impressive profile. With the top down, it has show-stopping looks.

The fabric top reflects the thoughtfulness and ingenuity that is engineered into every A5. The acoustic roof does more than provide protection from the elements when it’s up – it minimizes wind and road noise intrusion, keeping the passenger compartment a quiet, pleasing place. A heated glass rear window and excellent insulation ensure that the cabriolet is a four-season automobile. The top operation is fast, too, taking a mere 15 seconds to drop out of sight or rise into place; unlike some other convertibles, the Audi A5 cabriolet top can be operated while driving at speeds up to 30 mph.

As with the A5 coupe, the A5 cabriolet makes use of the efficient and powerful 2.0 TFSI engine. It’s offered with either FrontTrak® front-wheel drive and a Multitronic® continuously variable transmission (CVT) or quattro® all-wheel drive and the eight-speed Tiptronic® automatic.

For performance-minded drivers, the 2012 Audi S5 coupe (MSRP $53,900) ups the ante by fortifying the excellent styling with a 4.2-liter FSI® direct-injected V8 engine making 354 hp and 325 lb/ft of torque. The zero-to-60 run takes only 4.9 seconds, and the top speed jumps to 155 mph. S5 models also get sportier suspension tuning. All-wheel drive is standard with the quattro® 40:60 rear bias, and drivers can opt for either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Tiptronic® automatic with paddleshifters. S5 models also get some signature visual cues that differentiate them from the regular A5 including quad exhaust finishers, model-specific 19-inch alloy wheels and aluminum-finish rearview mirrors.

While the 2012 Audi S5 cabriolet (MSRP $59,300) wears the same visual telltales as its closed-roof sibling, it manufactures its underhood grunt with a different powertrain: A supercharged 3.0-liter DOHC TSFI® V6 making 333 hp and 325 lb/ft of torque. That power is channeled to all four wheels via standard, rear-biased quattro® all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S tronic® dual-clutch transmission that delivers extremely fast shifts and good fuel efficiency (26 mpg highway). It sprints to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds and maxes out at 155 mph, just like the S5 coupe.

Beautiful style and invigorating performance in the A5 lineup come with myriad available features and amenities to help further personalize and enhance the overall experience. Bluetooth® connectivity, the iPod-ready Audi Music Interface, MMI® (Multi Media Interface) Navigation and available custom-designed surround-sound audio systems by Bang & Olufsen are available to inform and entertain while underway.

Available heated seats further cement the A5 and S5 models as outstanding all-season sporting vehicles. Audi Drive Select lets the driver further customize how the car behaves, providing precision control over the engine, transmission, steering and suspension systems for a total of 27 different configurations. A Sport Package amps up the A5 with enhanced seating and a performance-oriented suspension. Adaptive Cruise Control helps maintain a safe distance from the cars in front of you at highway speeds, and rear acoustic parking sensors visually illustrate where obstacles are relative to the car when backing up. Cabriolet drivers can even select their own Comfort Package, whose highlights include heated seat bottoms and seatbacks, as well as neck level warm-air circulation that encourages top-down driving, even in brisk weather.

It’s beautiful, it’s powerful, it’s efficient and it’s loaded with features. Every car in the 2012 Audi A5 range is designed to satisfy the most discerning and demanding drivers. The secret? Excellence is standard.
